Why not? Another survey

Heh, I read Melissa' post, got bored, so I decided to do it myself. Here we go! Well, there might be some similarities between my answers and Melissa's... obviously because we both became mothers this year.

1. What did you do in 2010 that you’d never done before?
I never had surgery before until my cesarean. I was scared out of my mind, but now I want every birth to be a c-section.

2. Did you keep your New Year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't think I had a resolution from last year. I probably won't have one this year either. Other than lose some weight. This holiday weight is killing me!

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Gosh, I feel like this question should be "Who didn't give birth this year?" Or get preggo. Lots of babies this year including 3 of Taylor's cousins, 3 coworkers, and a handful of friends.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No deaths but cancer is just as bad.

5. What countries did you visit?
I didn't visit any in 2010, but I was just returning from London and Denmark at the end of 2009.

6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?
Hmm, more house space? Perhaps that would come if we moved? Let's hope so for 2011!

7. What dates from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory and why?
Obvious answer is April 20, also known as National Smoke Pot day. Too bad I didn't have a girl. I could have named her Mary Jane. :)

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I think it would be quitting my job. We debated long and hard if I should, but I think it has been well worth it. I get to see all the new events in Elijah's life and encourage new experiences for him. That's a big blessing.

9. What was your biggest failure?
I wish I had handled the birth of Elijah better. I prevented family to come to the hospital. I listened to the nurse and did not eat before going to the hospital. I didn't wear anything out of my overnight bag. I packed too much. I wasn't ready mentally, even though he was overdue.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nope. I'm pretty stringent about hand washing.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
My new flooring in my house! I wish I had done it sooner.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Elijah--I get more compliments on how good-natured he is than anything else. He has made parenthood a breeze for me.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My friend Lisa. She keeps pushing me away, and I miss her friendship.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Home improvements? If it's not that, then it would be Taylor's car. We were determined to pay it off before the baby was born.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
My new flooring. LOL.

16. What song will always remind you of 2010?
Probably "Shadowfeet" by Brooke Fraser. That song started the complete obsession I have of her.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Happier, definitely.
b) thinner or fatter? Thinner. No baby bump for me!
c) richer or poorer? Oh, definitely poorer. Taylor got a pay increase, but when I quit, it was almost half of our income.

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Dates. I wish I went out on more dates with Taylor. Still do.

19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Worrying. I worry about everything.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
I just hosted Christmas Eve at our house for Taylor's side of the family. Tomorrow (Christmas day), we will be going to my sister's house. In the morning, I will be baking 4 casseroles and a dessert. Fun times!

21. Did you fall in love in 2010?
Sure did! I fell in love with Elijah from the first time I saw him. I fell in love with Taylor again for being the most supportive husband ever.

22. What was your favorite TV program?
Hmm... probably would be Bones. I jumped on that bandwagon late, but I watched every episode, starting from season one all the way up to five, this past year so that I could be up to date for the newest season.

23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
I don't hate. I appreciate. LOL

24. What was the best book you read?
What did I read last year? Probably the parenting book my sister gave me. I have followed that book exactly, and Elijah has been perfect.

25. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Brooke Fraser from New Zealand. I wish my voice could sound like hers.

26. What did you want and get?
An easy pregnancy and delivery. If that's too cheesy for you, then new flooring!

27. What did you want and not get?
A new car. That will have to wait another year or two.

28. What was your favorite film of this year?
The sad thing is that I can't remember what I watched this year. I really liked Valentine's Day and He's Not that Into You.

29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 30, and Taylor and I went to eat at Woodfire Grill. One of the best and most expensive meals I have eaten in my life. Worth it, though.

30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Moving to Peachtree City. Being close to church and having that network of friends and spiritual accountability is priceless.

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?
Whatever is comfortable and can be spit up or drooled on.

32. What kept you sane?
Lunches with other people. Those times would break up my monotonous days, and it was quality time with friends.

33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Dunno.

34. What political issue stirred you the most?
I wasn't too into the politics, but I sure hated the phone calls I got trying to solicit my vote.

35. Who did you miss?
My friend Lisa. I also miss Michael and Nina Artis. It's time they moved to the States!

36. Who was the best new person you met?
Probably my stalker-mom, April. Even though she is quite a handful, talks nonstop, hates doing things by herself, and has a very needy son, I would count her as a new friend.

37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010.
Alone time is really priceless. The times I have gone out and gotten a mani/pedi has saved my sanity. I love my husband and son, but sometimes, I need a break.

38. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:

"Shadowfeet" by Brooke Fraser

Walking, stumbling on these shadowfeet
Towards home, a land that I've never seen.
I am changing; less and less asleep
Made of different stuff than when I began.
And I've sensed it all along.
Fast approaching is the day

[CHORUS]
When the world has fallen out from under me,
I'll be found in you, still standing.
When the sky rolls up and the mountains fall on their knees,
When time and space are through,
I'll be found in you.

There's distraction buzzing in my head,
Saying in the shadows it's easier to stay.
But I've heard rumors of true reality,
Whispers of a well-lit way

[CHORUS]

You make all things new.
